The Teevee Necks - Voodoo Economics

The Teevee Necks are not actually a plurality; perhaps, yes, when considering the emotions/reactions endured while listening to Voodoo Economics one could deem this music project's presence a rich and intense mess of video game synth samples. But wait, not even, because its super-cleanly composed with some really addictive silly-as-hell hooks that make you forget how everything has been distorted to the same chaos of saturated reverb (or even that Suicide is being sampled), therefore, regarding it as deceivingly fresh-as-hell swag out the box runonsentenceanyoneinterestedinbecomingmywritinginternpossiblysomeonejustnowlearninggrammarthanks.

Semya - Golden Days

Pony beads, candy, synth-bliss, and about 420 more ingredients make up Semya, a flipped-out project coming off the the bass humping beat-sticker Lexx. Bubbling out of the Baltimore avant-baking scene, this shit drops the heavy violence and goes from distorted 8-bit to spiritual peace pipe with Marlon Brando, Pocahontas, and me. Psychedelic foot race ensues over ambient hills and droney waters.

Woodsman - Mystery Tape EP

Lefse Records was cool enough to send us some of the promotional materials of Colorado-based psych rock ambient chillers Woodsman's Mystery Tape EP. Droned out riffs backed with some simple rhythms and driving percussion. Simplicity is the key. Check out the reverberating delay riffs in a sampled track below, very Banshee Beat.

Eola - Market (live)

Tropical cha cha percussion topped with Edwin & Tonstartssbandht's infamous choral psychedelia, this song loops to perfection.

The whole live set as performed for CKUT can be heard here, highly recommended.

White Fence - s/t

White Fence is an awesome 60s hazegaze psych rock n roll project coming out of a bedroom in today's LA. This debut came out earlier in the year, but got lost in all the other Woodsist-wannabes and in turn was overlooked by myself.

Every - Halley Con

these are some of the dopest tracks I have heard in some time. every is the name of my friend Leif Gann-Matzen's beat project. he applies layer after layer of sound; ranging from ambient washes to ear-piercing sonic blasts. The bass is heavy as fuck and the sampling is unbelievably on point. halley con dives deep into sound, exploring just about every noise that could possibly be made with the equipment used to produce it-- extensively satisfying the listener. once you have had your shit kicked open by an improved distorted banger, a soothing ambient trance comes over you assuring your senses that everything will be okay. not downloading this compilation would make you a very foolish person... this is some next level shit. stick around till the end for the cleaner, polished up beats, well worth the 45 minutes of your life.

Rollerskate Skinny - Shoulder Voices (1994)

This album is nothing short of a masterpiece. With brethren ties to MBV and such, Shoulder Voices is comprised with an eclectic approach to the twee/shoe-gaze genre by offering up something much more original than modern re-creationists. The natural applications of some seriously psychedelic melodic creepiness and amounting textures that are put into most of the tracks create some sort of a spiritual awakening type-of-deal. I guess I over-looked this shit's worth far too long, thank you summer boredom for making la creme rise a la top.

Midnite Cobras

RCRD LBL just released a fucking awesome re-recorded version of TONSTARTSSBANDHT's psychedelic noise-pop jam Midnite Cobras from their first full length album An When (which if you haven't heard yet then you are WAY behind) for free download. You can listen to the b-side (and should), Electric Dragon Sword, on their myspace. Don't miss out and get your vinyl copy in April from Psychic Handshake

Inflatable Mattress - Real Talk

Inflatable Mattress is the beat-dropping moniker of the guy behind the indie-tronic project Happy Family. I have been listening to this non-stop recently, something I also went through initially with Happy Family, but the difference is that I am not getting sick of the content. There's a lot more variation and innovation happening in Real Talk; atmospheric drones, toppled by glitching snares, complimented by modulating samples that echo in and out of focus -- all seeming to have no purpose being together other than getting you completely stoned

New Yoga - Lizard Vision

totally atmospheric, fuzzed-out ambient jams. soft beats are heard, but 80's arena rock-styled reverb and distortion reign over all. "so-easy-to-listen-to" melodies also included.

The Pop Winds - Understory EP

epic electro-psychedelic pop compositions with very sunny vocals. thats about all
